Dear Friends of the Arts: At the Como Opera Guild we are very aware that there are many organizations vying for your attention financially. Therefore we would like to simply present our case for why you should choose to support us. First of all, we are a non-profit organization, 501 (c) (3) designated by the I.R.S. and therefore any funds or payment in kind you may choose to give us will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you find yourself faced with the reality of either paying taxes to the government, or making a deductible gift to us, we urge you to think about how the money will be spent. If you give it to the government, only a small portion of your tax dollars will trickle down to your community. If you make a donation to us, you will be able to see first hand where and how your money is spent. You will enjoy the benefits of your gift through the performances you help to produce, or through the satisfaction in seeing our educational outreach programs make a difference in the lives of the young people of our community. Because we are a new organization, substantial government grants from either state or federal agencies for operating funds were not available to us for the first three seasons . For this reason, we have had to rely on the generosity of individuals and corporations to fund our activities. You can make the difference. We urge you to consider the benefits that your contribution will mean to the community of Northwest Mississippi. Not only will you have a hand in bringing quality professional Opera and Musical Theatre to our area; you will also help to take artistically inspiring productions into our schools to educate and encourage the cultural development of our youth. We thank you for your consideration and promise that if you choose to make a contribution to us, we will give it our all to justify your trust in our ability to deliver quality performances and educational opportunities in the years to come.
